The Caldor Fire burning across more than 214,000 acres near the border of California and Nevada was 37 percent contained by Saturday, September 4, leaving firefighters “optimistic,” reports said.

Footage released by Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado (AEU) on Saturday shows crews on mop-up operations near Plum Creek, south of Highway 50 in El Dorado County, and a firefighting helicopter collecting water from Caples Lake in the neighboring Alpine County.

As of September 4, a total of 4,662 personnel were assigned to the fire, officials said. Credit: Cal Fire AEU via Storyful
