Multiple communities in Spokane County, Washington, were still under evacuation orders on Monday, August 21, as firefighters continued to battle two major fires burning in the county.

The Oregon fire near Elk and the Gray fire near Medical Lake had each burned about 10,000 acres of land, according to InciWeb. The Oregon fire was zero percent contained, while the Gray fire was 10 percent contained, officials said.

The Gray fire had killed at least one person and destroyed over 180 structures, the Washington Department of Natural Resources said.
