Typhoon Vamco Brings Destructive Winds to Philippines

Typhoon Vamco, known locally as Ulysses, was strengthening further on November 11 as it brought strong winds and heavy rain to the Philippines while heading towards Manila.

The weather bureau of the Philippines warned of “destructive typhoon-force winds” and “heavy to intense” rainfall in the areas most significantly affected by the storm. Sustained winds of up to 125 km/h and gusts of up to 155 km/h were recorded.

PAGASA also warned of a storm surge of up to three meters in coastal areas of Quezon. Typhoon Vamco was expected to pass through Quezon overnight on November 11.
