Five juveniles, aged between 12 and 16, were arrested in connection to two carjacking incidents in Washington’s King County on Wednesday, April 3.

Renton Police Department (RPD) said that the suspects attempted to hijack a man’s car at gun point in a bank parking lot at around 9:43 am on Wednesday morning. When the victim managed to stall and escape the suspects made off in a separate vehicle.

Police said that the suspects had successfully carjacked the getaway vehicle in a separate incident, hours earlier, in nearby Tukwila.

RPD Officer Matthew Nugent told local outlet KOMO that responding officers from a number of authorities pursued the suspect’s vehicle, which also crashed into another vehicle, after a running a red light.

Dash cam footage released by RPD shows the youths fleeing in different directions after abandoning the stolen, damaged vehicle, with authorities in close pursuit.

“Once again, we are faced with a group of juveniles who have an utter disregard for not only the law but the safety and well-being of our entire community. We are so lucky no one was injured,” RPD Chief Jon Schuldt said in the release on Facebook.

“We are working very closely with the King County Prosecutor’s Office to ensure these suspects and others face consequences," he added.
