STORY: From Apple bouncing back, to what the Pope thinks about bots, this is AI Weekly.

Apple is back on top, most likely thanks to artificial intelligence.

Shares in the iPhone-maker soared after it said it would build ChatGPT into many of its products.

That helped it reclaim the spot as the world’s most valuable firm, overtaking Microsoft and chipmaker Nvidia.

AI is powering up the human side of androids in China.

The firm Ex-Robots is working on how to make realistic facial expressions.

It says the bots can sense their environment, and respond appropriately.

The Pope has weighed in on artificial intelligence.

Speaking to a G7 summit, he said mankind had to make sure it was in charge of the tech, not the other way round:

"We would condemn humanity to a hopeless future if we took away people's ability to make decisions about themselves and their lives by condemning them to depend on the choices of machines."

Elon Musk has dropped his lawsuit against ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.

He had accused it of abandoning its stated mission of developing AI for the good of humanity, not for profit.

The billionaire gave no reason for dropping the suit.

And Japan’s beloved kitties are getting a little healthcare help.

AI-driven app CatsMe! claims to be able to detect when the felines are feeling pain.

It was trained on thousands of cat pictures, and has won more than 230,000 users since launch.
