'Anybody Want a Baby Rat?': Sheriff Saves Tiny Animal From East Texas Flood

Residents in parts of Trinity County in Texas were under an evacuation order on Thursday, May 2, as heavy rain caused flash flooding.

The Trinity County Sheriff said residents in the Deer Run subdivision and Doug Bell Road were being evacuated and rescues were underway.

Video from Trinity County Sheriff shows Sheriff Woody Wallace rescuing a baby animal from the floodwaters.

“We got us a little fella floating right there in the grass […] alright, good deed for the day […] anybody want a baby rat?” he jokes.
