STORY: More than 1,500 artists from 25 countries will participate in the Salon and Stage style competitions.

The Salon tango is often characterised by slow, measured, and smoothly executed moves, respecting the space of other dancers on the floor.

The walk is considered the most important element.

The Stage tango is, quite literally, tango performed on the stage for a presentation to an audience.

The 2022 festival also features performances by dancers and tango musicians as well as workshops, classes, and exhibitions, with spectators, encouraged to join the fun and shake a leg themselves in "milongas," or tango dance halls.

Salon and Stage style champions will be crowned on September 18 to close out the festival.
