STORY: Made from spring coils found in cars, the flak jackets give farmers the reassurance that, for now, they are safe.

"We need to get the country going, we need to provide food. We need to harvest and to sow," said one farmer who did not give his full name.

More than half of the Zaporizhzhia region is currently occupied by Russian forces and on Thursday (July 28), presidential advisor Oleksiy Arestovych said Russia was amassing troops in the occupied parts of the region.

The farm's director, Oleksandr, who required farmers to wear flak jackets, said he was prompted by incidents where missiles had either been intercepted or in a few cases landed in his farm.

He added that his 200 of his self-made vests have been sent for the army to use.
