Trump says he may quarantine NY, NJ and Connecticut

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday, en route to a hospital ship that will set sail from Virginia to New York later in the day, said he is considering imposing a quarantine on New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

(SOUNDBITE) PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SAYING:

"We're thinking about certain things. Some people would like to see New York quarantined because it's a hot spot, New York, New Jersey and one or two other places and certain parts of Connecticut quarantined. I'm thinking about that right now we might not have to do it, but there's a possibility that some time today we will do a quarantine short-term two weeks on New York, probably New Jersey and certain parts of Connecticut... It would be an enforceable quarantine and I'd rather not do it, but we may need it."

Trump said he is unsure about whether the United States will reopen for business by April 12th following shutdowns in major cities across the country.
