Houston authorities said a “high-water rescue team” had been deployed in the western suburb of Westlake, Texas, on July 8, as floodwaters caused by Tropical Storm Beryl continued to rise near homes and schools, and left several roads impassable.

This footage from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office shows a wastewater treatment facility surrounded by flooding, and the nearby Mayde Creek overflowing onto a road.

Though Beryl had been downgraded from a hurricane, weather officials said heavy rain, floods, and tropical-storm-force winds would continue inland. Some isolated tornadoes were also possible, they said. Credit: Harris County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
