She explained that some of the "largest holders of bitcoin are actually governments, including the U.S. government," which came upon the digital currency "as a holding through seized assets, either through bankruptcies or criminal investigations that have involved bitcoin."

Offloading some of that bitcoin could pressure its price in the short-term, said Yang, who nevertheless sees longterm value in the digital asset.
