Key West Welcomes 2022 With Drag Queen 'Shoe Drop'

Partiers in Key West, Florida, ushered in the New Year with a ‘shoe drop’ where a drag queen, perched on a large high-heeled shoe, was slowly lowered toward the crowd during the countdown to midnight.

Now in its 24th year, the event featured popular Key West drag queen Gary Merion aka ‘Sushi’ suspended above spectators in a red high-heeled shoe outside the Bourbon St. Pub/New Orleans House Complex.
