Punjab demands Bharat Ratna for hockey legend Balbir Singh Senior who passed away at 95

Chandigarh, May 25 (ANI): Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conferring Hockey player Balbir Singh Senior with Bharat Ratna on May 25. Speaking on it, Punjab Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi said, “Chief Minister has already written to the Prime Minister, I am very hopeful that the central government will confer him with Bharat Ratna. He deserves that. Mohali Hockey Stadium will be named after him. He was such a tall figure in the field of hockey.” Hockey legend Balbir Singh Senior, 95, passed away on May 25 after battling multiple health issues.
