Damage Reported in Cancun After Hurricane Delta Landfall Overnight

Residents of Quintana Roo on Mexico’s east coast surveyed the damage caused by Hurricane Delta, which made landfall early Wednesday, October 7, with winds of up to 110 mph and a life-threatening storm surge, the National Hurricane Center confirmed.

This footage shows downed trees and damage in the Supermanzana 30 neighborhood of Cancún.

The storm made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane, weaker than expected. The NHC said that in the US, Southern states including Louisiana and Mississippi should expect storm impacts as of October 9. Credit: Nehemias Ra via Storyful
