Emergency Responders Airlift Elderly Woman From Kentucky Flooding

Teams of emergency responders worked together to rescue a family trapped in their attic during deadly flooding in Breathitt County, Kentucky, on Thursday, July 28, according to Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team Chief John May.

Kentucky Gov Andy Beshear said on Monday at least 35 people were confirmed dead in eastern Kentucky after historic flooding. The severe weather conditions were expected to continue as emergency responders searched for others reported missing, according to Beshear.

The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team said with the help of the Kentucky National Guard they successfully rescued a family of five, including an 83-year-old woman, who were trapped in their home by dangerous floodwater.
