Atmospheric River Flooding Threatens Northern Washington

Heavy rain overwhelmed the Skagit River and sent floodwaters onto properties in northern Washington on Monday, November 15, as an atmospheric river brought rain and high wind, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Darren Guth recorded this video as he drove through Skagit County on Monday morning. By noon, the NWS said rain rates were starting to decrease.

Landslides and flooding closed several local roads in nearby Whatcom County, officials reported. Significant street flooding was also reported in Sumas. Credit: Darren Guth via Storyful
