STORY: Concerns are rising for a beluga
whale in France’s Seine river
Locator: Saint-Pierre-la-Garenne, France
It is refusing to eat and looks
emaciated, a local official said
The whale swam nearly 100
miles up the Seine
It is far from the cold Arctic waters it is more suited
(Jean-claude Ozanne, Gaillon resident)
"Seeing animals like that in the Seine, with global warming and all that, makes you wonder why this is happening and how come it manages to swim that far up the river, on its own. It's true that it is strange. We'd like to know for what reasons we find animals in the Seine like that."
