Cuban jazz festival returns to shake off pandemic blues

The 37th edition of the country's major musical event brings in artists from countries such as Belgium, Argentina and even the United States.

American saxophonist David Leon is playing in Havana for the festival. His parents had emigrated from the Caribbean island to the U.S. in 1961, calling his musical debut in Havana a "special experience".

Despite U.S. sanctions on Cuba, Havana's jazz festival proved that music can transcend politics.

"Getting together with the public and their feedback is very nice, when people are really enjoying what you do it really makes you very happy."
