Drone footage released by Ukrainian authorities on Monday, February 6, revealed widespread devastation in the frontline village of Novoselivske in Luhansk region, close to its border with Kharkiv region.
According to the Luhansk Military Administration, which posted the footage on social media, a Russian sniper shot and killed the last resident of Novoselivske in January. Every building in the village had been damaged or destroyed by Russian artillery, they said.
The town is located about 20 miles southeast of Kupiansk, a strategically important town in eastern Kharkiv Oblast that was recaptured by Ukrainian forces in September. The majority of Russian forces in Kharkiv Oblast were pushed back east into Luhansk region during a large-scale Ukrainian counteroffensive.
