The parents of a British teenager killed by an American diplomat's wife who was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road on Monday urged her to face justice after she fled the UK and claimed immunity.

"She needs to just do the right thing and just come back and face what she's done, face us as a broken family, face our U.K. system and just do the right thing."

Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn spoke to reporters in New York - during a visit meant to put pressure on the Trump administration to have the suspect, Anne Sacoolas sent back to face British investigators.

"She needs to set an example to her own children that you can't run away when you've done something so terribly wrong."

Nineteen-year-old Harry Dunn died after Sacoolas crashed her car into his motorbike near an air force base in central England used by the U.S. military.

"To me it is so, so simple. It's just... On that night there was an accident. A lady made a mistake. She killed our son. She didn't mean to kill him. She didn't mean to have the accident. But you cannot walk away from that and just leave and expect nothing to happen. Our boy died. He deserves to have some justice whatever that turns out to be..."

Through her lawyers, Sacoolas reportedly said she is “devastated” and wants to meet with Dunn’s family.

A spokesperson for the family said a meeting would be conditional on whether Sacoolas was willing to return to Britain.
