Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish activist, was joined by thousands at a climate change rally at the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton on Friday, October 18.

The Friday rally was part of a global rallying cry, launched by Thunberg, encouraging young people to participate in climate strikes weekly.

A group of pro-oil and gas demonstrators organized a counter-protest, but were outnumbered by the climate activists, according to the Calgary Herald.
