Hailstones lashed a suburb of Melbourne on December 1, as parts of Victoria were under a severe thunderstorm warning.

This footage, posted to Twitter, shows hail coming down in Altona North. The storm also caused flash flooding in the Brunswick area of the city.

The Herald Sun said 5,000 people lost power in Melbourne and two flights were diverted from Melbourne Airport, where wind gusts of 106 km/h (65 mph) were recorded.

By Wednesday evening, the weather service said thunderstorms had eased off and canceled its warning, adding that “showers and non-severe storms may still contribute to localised flooding.” Credit: @vegemiteblonde via Storyful
