Juniper Hills Woman Sifts Through Wreckage of Home and Animal Sanctuary After Bobcat Fire

Cheryl Pointdexter returned to her home of almost 30 years in Juniper HIlls, California, on September 21, to find it reduced to smoldering rubble by the Bobcat Fire.

Video posted by the account SpoofDawg to the Rescue shows Pointdexter trawling through the ash and rubble of what used to be her home and an animal sanctuary she ran.

In an interview with the San Bernadino Sun, Pointdexter said she evacuated on September 18, and the animals on site were relocated. A dozen koi that lived in a pond at her place died, she said, as did one cat. “These clothes are all I have left,” she said.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Pointdexter.

The fire had reached 112,053 acres late on September 22, and was 17 percent contained. Credit: SpoofDawg to the Rescue via Storyful
