Eruptions at the Cumbre Vieja volcano continued into an eighth week, as lava flowed to seaside areas of the Spanish island of La Palma once more on November 9.

The volcano began erupting on September 19. As of November 7, lava had covered 994.6 hectares (roughly 3.84 square miles) on the island, according to the European Union’s Copernicus satellite program. Analysts with Copernicus determined that volcanic activity had destroyed 2,594 buildings.

This footage, taken on Tuesday evening, shows lava spewing from the volcano.

According to local authorities in Los Llanos, cleaning crews were removing upwards of 200 tons of ash from streets in the area every day. Credit: idafe.com via Storyful
