Large plumes of smoke wafted above parts of Los Angeles County on May 12, as a wildfire prompted evacuations in Pinon Hills.

According to the Cal Fire San Bernardino Unit, the blaze erupted early on Thursday afternoon, and took under five hours for crews to stop its forward momentum.

As of 9 pm Thursday night, the fire stood at 450 acres and was 15% contained. At least one structure was destroyed.

Evacuation orders were issued for Pinon Hills earlier that afternoon, and remained in place for a small number of homes later that night.
