London's Wembley Stadium Arch Lit in Brazil's Colors to Honor Pele

The iconic arch at London’s Wembley Stadium was lit in the colors of the Brazilian flag on December 29, to honor soccer legend Pele, whose death aged 82 was announced earlier in the day.

In an Instagram post, Wembley Stadium said: “Tonight we light the arch in the honour of Pele. His unique talent lit up the game of football, and inspired the world.”

Pele, born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, died in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Thursday, December 29, posts from his family members indicated.

His daughter, Kely Nascimento, posted a photo tagged to Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein on Thursday. “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” she wrote, according to a translation by Storyful.

His son, Edson Nascimento, known as Edinho, wrote “Go with God, my Father”.
