An intersection in Westminster, Maryland, was expected to be closed “for many days,” the local fire department said, after electrical poles were downed by a severe storm on Monday, August 7.

The National Weather Service (NWS) had warned of storms with wind gusts of up to 70 mph.

Footage from the Westminster Fire Department shows crews working on several downed power lines on Tuesday. According to the department, the intersection of Route 97 and Route 140, as well as both eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 140, remained closed from Gorsuch Road to Market Street on Tuesday.

“All indications are that the roadway will remain closed for indefinite period – for many days,” the department wrote on Facebook.
