Wild animals around the world have been spotted making themselves at home in urban spaces as humans lock down to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including Kashmiri mountain goats in the seaside town of Llandudno, Wales, on Saturday, March 28.

This video captures a few goats, whose herd typically graze in the nearby Great Orme nature reserve, munching on vegetation in the North Wales resort town. The goats have been known to visit the town when bad weather forces them inland, according to local media. But with few vehicles and pedestrians about due to the lockdown in the UK, police have had to intervene to shoo the goats away, media reported on March 30.

The Kashmiri goats are thought to have been introduced to the Great Orme, a rocky hill overlooking the sea, in 1907 from a herd that had been presented to Queen Victoria by the Shah of Persia, according to the Telegraph.

An unusual amount of wildlife has also been seen in places such as the canals of Milan, Italy, during the coronavirus pandemic.

As of Monday afternoon, the UK had reported 22,448 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 1,408 deaths. Credit: Mark Richards via Storyful
