Ominous Orange Sky Accompanies Evacuation Orders in Kamloops, British Columbia

Wildfires burning in the Columbia-Shuswap and Thompson-Nicola Regional District in British Columbia prompted evacuation orders as they filled the sky with smoke on Monday afternoon, July 26.

Several wildfires were burning near Kamloops, including the McKay Creek fire, the Sparks Lake fire, the Durand Lake fire, and the Two Mile Road fire.

As of Tuesday, there were 252 active wildfires in the province, according to the British Columbia Wildfire Service.

Video shared on Twitter by Sue Mark shows the dark orange sky in Kamloops on Monday afternoon.
