Search and rescue efforts continued after Hurricane Ian hit Florida, causing destruction in the southwestern area of the state, on Thursday, September 29, according to officials.

President Joe Biden approved a disaster declaration for Florida in response to the destruction caused by the storm.

Lee County issued a curfew, saying it is “critical to shelter in place.”

Fort Myers officials urged residents to stay at home explaining that vehicles out were impeding continuing rescue efforts.

Video posted by Joel Franco on Thursday shows storm damage in Fort Myers.
