Officials celebrated the reopening

of the 500-year-old UNESCO World Heritage Site

with a traditional ceremony and a spectacular light show

(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) PERUVIAN MINISTER OF CULTURE, ALEJANDRO NEYRA, SAYING: "Being here at Machu Picchu is very special for all of us. It's the symbolic place of Peruvian culture in the world, but above all it's a symbol of resistance, of strength, of courage, and of hope. And, hope will allow us to move forward through these difficult circumstances."

and the number of visitors will be limited
