Plane crash lands on California highway, catches fire

STORY: Aerial footage of the scene at Corona, California showed a charred plane on freeway lanes as nearby traffic drove by.

According to the California Highway Patrol Captain, Levi Miller, the single-engine Piper Cherokee experienced engine failure when heading to the Corona Municipal Airport and made the emergency landing.

The two passengers in the aircraft and the three people traveling on the truck were reportedly unharmed.

Miller told media the light traffic at the time of the accident averted a "tragedy".
