Communities in eastern Kentucky assessed widespread damage caused by devastating flooding on Tuesday, March 2, after a weekend of heavy rain caused the Kentucky River to burst its banks, leaving roads impassable.

This footage shows the extent of the flooding in Beattyville, a city in Lee County, where three forks of the Kentucky River come together, according to the Lexington Herald-Ledger. The uploader commented that the video showed “pure devastation.”

The South Fork of the Kentucky River at Booneville crested more than 17 feet above “Flood Stage” on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
