Rescuer hit by freezer during search in Peru

STORY: Officer Joao Loyola had climbed down to the Rimac river to search for two missing people. He was knocked unconscious when a freezer and debris from a landslide-damaged house fell and hit him.

Loyola's colleagues quickly helped him. He was then taken to a local hospital.

Local authorities said he is in stable condition, with doctors performing several medical checks.

The authorities ordered the evacuation of all houses in the area due to the risk of a new landslide.
