Ronan Farrow thanks his family for inspiring change

Author and journalist Ronan Farrow, who wrote the article that ignited the movement was honored with the Equity in Entertainment award.

The award was presented by Gretchen Carlson, who stood up against sexual harassment one year before Farrow's article.

She said "I'm Gretchen Carlson, the woman at the center of the Fox News sexual harassment scandal who took down Roger Ailes. Three years ago, I found the courage somehow to stand up to Fox News chairman Roger Ailes and sue him. At that time, I felt completely alone but since that time, many more women have found the courage to say 'enough is enough', tell their stories and together we started a cultural revolution."

After receiving the award, Farrow listed all the names of the women who had been his sources and helped expose sexual harassment in the entertainment industry. He ended by saying "I am the person I am today because of two brave women in my life, my mother Mia and my sister Dylan. They faced that same powerful system that protects dangerous men and in some ways my mom was so alone in that fight. How good to know that now however much more there is to do, however much more change needs to happen, there are fewer women that have to fight these fights alone. Thank you for this award. I will leave it there. As a man on this stage, I'm very aware of the importance of shutting up and listening."
