Smoke Clouds Tower in Sky as Lava Fire Forces Evacuations in Northern California

The Lava Fire continued to burn in Weed, California, on June 28, as evacuation orders were issued by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office for the Lake Shastina and Juniper Valley areas.

Cal Fire said that as of the afternoon of July 1, the wildfire had burned 19,680 acres (about 31 square miles) and was 25 percent contained.
