Super Typhoon Noru, known locally as Karding, brought wind gusts of up to 240 km/h (150 mph) to the Polillo Islands, Philippines, on September 25, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Noru made landfall near Burdeos, Quezon, on the east of the islands, according to PAGASA.

The super typhoon is set to bring heavy rain, severe maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h (115 mph), widespread flooding, and coastal inundations to the capital of Manila, as well as central provinces including Quezon, Calabarzon, and Luzon.

The country’s president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved the suspension of work and school in several regions due to be affected by the super typhoon, the Manila Times reported.
