STORY: Volunteers and workers from the Ukrainian State Emergency Services continued to evacuate people and deliver drinking water and food to those still trapped in their homes.

"People need water, they are scared of getting contaminated, they worry the tap water is unusable so we will definitely need drinking water in the coming two, three weeks, at least, " volunteer Yulia Kisilova said.

After the vast Soviet-era Kakhovka Dam crumbled on Tuesday (June 6) - a human and ecological disaster which Russia and Ukraine have blamed on each other - rubber dinghies have replaced cars in the town's streets.

Rescuers in boats went from house to house searching for people needing evacuation.
