Ice accumulation was widespread across the Hill Country in central and south Texas on the morning of Wednesday, February 1, the National Weather Service said.

This video showing a branch snapping off a tree was filmed by Jason Finkelman, who said it was captured in Austin. He said the branch snapped due to ice, adding, “Giant branches keep popping and falling.”

Over 100,000 residents of Austin were without power on Wednesday morning, with local media reporting that ice accumulation had caused issues such as tree limbs falling onto power lines.
