UK's Truss attends European summit

STORY: The summit of the European Political Community (EPC) in Prague will bring together the 27 leaders of the European Union with 17 leaders from the continent currently outside the club, including Britain, Turkey, Norway and Ukraine.

Truss's decision to attend is being viewed as a gesture towards warmer ties between the EU and London that have been frayed by post-Brexit wrangling over Northern Ireland.

She attends the summit in the Czech capital following her ruling party's annual conference, which was beset by internal bickering and policy confusion.

The conference, once expected to be Truss's crowning glory after she became prime minister on Sept. 6, had turned into a personal nightmare after the announcement of a new economic plan triggered a crisis of confidence among investors.
