Recession risks ‘building’ in near term: Strategist

The Federal Reserve decided to hold rates steady at its September meeting, leaving many investors expecting for rates to stay higher for longer. J.P. Morgan Asset Management Global Market Strategist Jack Manley joins Yahoo Finance Live to discuss recession risks.

Recession "risks are increasing, they’re building, when it comes to at least near-term recession probabilities," Manley says, amid a potential government shutdown and the United Auto Workers against the Big Three automakers, — Ford (F), General Motors (GM), and Stellantis (STLA) — as these issues weigh on "consumer confidence."

Manley adds that his "base case still isn’t for a recession, I just have to acknowledge that the risks there have ticked up a little bit recently."
