Why millennial women may be more hesitant to invest: Strategist explains

According to a recent survey by Schroeder’s only 29% of millennials believe they will save $1 million for retirement.

Nancy Tengler, Laffer Tengler Investments CEO and CIO, as well as author of The Women’s Guide to Successful Investing joins Yahoo Finance live to examine why this number is so low and what the solution could be for women— particularly millennials.

Tengler notes that, according to studies, women tend to make better investments, but tend to take less risk. Tengler says millennial women, even more than baby boomers, have been tending to shift financial stewardship and decision making to “the money spouse.” Tengler blames the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009 for the “trepidation” millennial women have towards investing.
