How the Public Service Loan Relief program saved borrowers billions

The Public Service Loan Relief program helps those who enter public service pay off their student loans. Under a waiver issued by the Biden administration relieved more than 615,000 borrowers of $42 billion in debt. The waiver eased the stringent rules that resulted in 90% of applicants being rejected. American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten highlights the the impact this initiative has had on teachers and public sector workers since it has begun and why she wants to see the return of the relaxed rules.
