Floods hit parts of southeast Texas

STORY: According to ABC News, a disaster declaration was issued on Thursday (May 2) and mandatory evacuations ordered for some residents living along the banks of the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. On Friday the river had risen to 75 feet (22.86 metres) above sea level.

Texas governor Greg Abbott has issued a disaster declaration for the area.

According to ABC News, flooding is expected to continue in parts of central and east Texas through next week.
