Beachgoers Shelter in Vehicle as Thunderstorm Hits Jersey Shore

A thunderstorm over the New Jersey shore brought wind, rain, and lightning to the town of Seaside Park and surrounding areas on August 19.

The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of the state until 6 pm on Monday.

This video was shared by John Buchicchio, who said he filmed it at Island Beach State Park on Monday.

“We ran off the beach and were stranded in the car!” Buchicchio said in a comment on Instagram. In another comment, he said he was stuck in the vehicle for “over an hour.” Credit: John Buchicchio via Storyful
