British Fire Department Fights Sexism After Little Girl Worries About Her Firefighting Future

The West Midlands Fire Department in England was trending on social media on January 20 after it responded to a little girl who was worried that she couldn’t be a firefighter because she was female.

Journalist Hannah Summers tweeted the comment from her daughter Esme on January 18, writing that the little girl had only ever seen male firefighters portrayed in books and other media, and believed she could not become one.
