Charity Gives 'At Least $100,000' Worth of Hay to Aussie Farmers Amid Drought, Fires

At least “$100,000” worth of hay was transported to drought and fire-affected farmers in northern New South Wales, on Saturday, November 16, and Sunday, November 17, by those involved in the Need For Feed Disaster Relief charity.

In a video posted to the charity’s Facebook page, chairman of the organisation Graham Cockerell said the hay was being transported to farmers in Guyra, Glen Innes, and Tenterfield. The hay was partly donated from areas in southern New South Wales and northern Victoria while the rest was “purchased out of money donations.”

“We’re off up to the fire area in northern New South…there’s at least $100,000 worth of hay here,” Cockerell says in the video.

“There’s been a huge amount of pasture lost up there [Glen Innes], they’re already struggling with the drought. What was left, a lot of it’s been burnt,” he says.

“This whole thing’s been put together in four days and the road only got opened up yesterday,” he says.
