Deadly Blast Rocks Charikar As Afghan President Holds Nearby Rally

At least 24 people were killed in a suicide attack near a rally held by Afghan president Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday, September 17, according to hospital officials cited by 1TV, with dozens more injured.

The blast took place in Charikar, the capital of Afghanistan’s Parwan province. Ghani was unhurt in the incident, and posted footage of the rally to his Facebook page shortly after the blast. No reference was made to the attack in the post.
