Deadly Ferguson Fire Doubles in Size to 9,300 Acres

The deadly Ferguson Fire in the Sierra National Forest in California grew to almost 9,300 acres on July 16.

Officials reported that the fire was only 2 percent contained.

A firefighter, Heavy Fire Equipment Operator Braden Varney, was killed during the response, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The fire had not caused any damage to structures by July 16, but the San Francisco Gate reported that the fire was threatening 108 buildings.
