Drake Grants Birthday Wish for 11-Year-Old Heart Transplant Patient, Visits Her at Chicago Hospital

Sofia Sanchez got the surprise of her life when rapper Drake walked into her hospital room on August 20 at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

The hospital shared footage of the surprise visit on their Facebook page. “It’s a miracle,” the 11-year-old says, “Because it’s one of the first wishes I got.” Sanchez can be seen screaming in shock as Drake walks in to her room. The pair are seen exchanging autographs and the rapper gives Sanchez a hat with the name of his album, Scorpion.

Sanchez shared her birthday wishes in a video posted by the hospital asking for a new heart and to meet the rapper. She had previously completed the In My Feelings challenge Sanchez was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, according to the hospital, which can cause heart failure and requires a heart transplant.
